Funding

The activities of the PPRC are funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) through a CIHR/Health Canada Emerging Team grant on Equity in Access to Necessary Medicines.

Governance

Membership: the PPRC includes established and emerging university-based researchers with expertise in the ethical, economic, legal, clinical and political facets of the pharmaceutical sector.

Collaborating partners: representatives of federal and provincial governments, relevant national agencies, health professions, and public interest groups contribute to the PPRC through involvement in knowledge exchange events and, where appropriate, participation in research partnerships.

Governance: the PPRC is directed by a Leadership Committee comprised of a Team Leader (Dr. Steve Morgan) and three Team Co-Leads (Drs. Paul Grootendorst, Joel Lexchin, and Barbara Mintzes). Additional oversight and guidance is provided by a Senior Advisory Committee comprised of three PPRC members (Drs. David Henry, Ingrid Sketris, and Robyn Tamblyn).

Coordinating centre: Staff and faculty of the UBC Centre for Health Services and Policy Research manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the PPRC, including maintaining the pharmaceuticalpolicy.ca website.
